Once the calendar turns to June the Studio, sadly, finds itself on the short end of my time.  While I am always thinking about the shop and its inventory, late May and early June finds me shopping for plants, planting the purchases and weeding...always weeding.  Time spent in a flower garden to me is very rewarding and it allows me the opportunity to think and plan.  And of course, I am ever hopeful that the new plantings will bring in butterflies and hummingbirds. I have been an Arbor Day Foundation member for a long time and find that, while I am still interested in animal rescue, the state of the planet is also a concern.  So I find myself supporting Earth Day events and becoming more environmentally conscious. My sister-in-law and I attended a seminar a couple of weeks ago, at a local greenhouse, on butterflies. Both of us enjoy the outdoors and are seriously interested in doing our best to help the birds and insects. And because of the seminar, I returned to the greenhouse to purchase several of the recommendations, plants that act as hosts for the caterpillars and nectar plants for the adults.  I can't wait for the flowers to mature so that I can hang out with my camera, hoping for a few more shots like this......

This beautiful Swallowtail was fluttering between our old lilac bush and a Washington Hawthorn tree and allowed me to capture this upclose and personal picture.  This photo will be available as a limited edition print in the studio.

I also am planning a "make your own card collection" sale within the next few weeks.  There will be a variety of cards under one listing with an option to mix it up choosing between birthday, blank, get well soon, and sympathy cards.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a safe and happy Summer!
